FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY:

Napolean's Oraculum

Napoleon's Book of Fate:

After Napoleon I was defeated at Leipzig in the year 1813, he left behind him a "Cabinet of Curiosities" among which the following Oraculum was found.  This Oraculum had been discovered in one of the Royal tombs of Egypt during the French military expedition of 1801.  The Emperor ordered the manuscript to be translated into German.  From that time onwards the Oraculum remained one of Napoleon's most treasured possessions.  He consulted it upon every important occasion and it is said that it formed a stimulus to his most speculative and most successful enterprises.

It is reproduced here, in English, and should be viewed as an ancient document which if used is for Entertainment purposes only.

How to consult the Oraculum:

1).  Make a series of marks like this * in four lines, adding as many *** s as you wish and when completed add up the total number of *s in each line.

2) When the number of marks in any of the four lines exceeds 9 then only the surplus marks are taken into account.

A symbol must now be obtained from the marks as follows:

A line containing an odd number is marked with one star *.

A line containing an even number is marked with two stars **.

EXAMPLE:

***** 5 5    *
*********** 11-9=2 2 **
******** 8 8 **
************ 12-9=3 3    *

It is now possible to consult the Oraculum.

In order to do this a question must be decided upon - see Table of Questions below.

NB. Only ONE Question is to be asked per (allowed) day - see 5) below.

3) Once the desired question has been chosen and the corresponding mark found; read the table across and down to the desired letter.

Example: If the question you wish to ask is question number 1 - Shall I obtain my wish? Read down from the symbol found earlier.

The corresponding letter is 'N'.
